– Using an Innovative Child-Centered Approach in Your Work with Separating Parents.
Who Is This Training For?
Family Law Attorneys, Family Mediators, Collaborative Professionals, Mental Health Professionals, Coaches, and all other Divorce Professionals working with separating parents.
As many of us know, most separating parents come to this process emotionally overwhelmed, uncertain about what to do and unprepared to deal with the complexities of parenting out of two homes. The question is, how do we as practitioners guide them towards choices that put their kids at the center and not in the middle? How can we cut through the conflict, shift their perspective and help them create a new family paradigm that stands the test of time?
We believe in order to truly help parents shift their perspective, we have to start with shifting our own.
The first of its kind, this intensive Co-parenting Training Program is designed to do exactly that. It helps practitioners move beyond focusing on how time is spent between households and center their work with co-parents on the needs of children as they navigate the realities of post-divorce parenting.
Regardless of where you are on the spectrum of experience, this innovative program will help you make the shift while gaining valuable skills and tools you can start using in your practice right away.
In this 4-day training you will walk away with:
- A greater awareness of how to help co-parents minimize the overall impact of family change for their children.
- Information about how age and stage of development affects children’s adjustment and how you can use that knowledge when developing parenting plans.
- An understanding of the core tenets of successful co-parenting.
- Knowledge about the emotional aspects of loss and grief for parents and children as well as, how it those dynamics show up in the room.
- Skills for addressing complex issues that need to be discussed openly to avoid future co-parenting conflicts.
- Tools that will help you cultivate innovative approaches to working with co-parents and crafting parenting plans that address the complexities of parenting out of two homes.
In this training, we will challenge the “what’s always been done” approach and offer you the opportunity to see divorce through the eyes of a child, giving you unique insight into how to guide parents using a child-centered approach, create a parenting plan that goes beyond custody calendars and holidays, and focuses on the real-life needs of children when parents part. You will learn how to go beyond just helping clients divorce, and instead guide them towards rebuilding their families for long-term success.
